What is Mitochondrial Disease?

Mitochondrial Disease is an energy crisis for a body at the cellular level. Mitochondria are essentially, the batteries of our cells and responsible for creating more than 90% of the energy needed by our bodies. When mitochondria fail, cell injury and even cell death follow. If the process is repeated throughout the body, whole systems begin to fail and life is severely compromised.
